Phillips 66 Limited Humber Refinery shortlisted for Government’s Phase-2 CCUS deployment
Today the UK Government announced the projects shortlisted for Carbon Capture deployment under the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Phase-2 Cluster Sequencing for carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) deployment.
Our project to capture carbon dioxide emissions from Phillips 66 Limited’s Humber Refinery has been shortlisted to go through to the next stage for potential connection to the Track 1 CCUS clusters.
Chris Gilbert, Humber Decarbonisation Projects Manager at Phillips 66 Limited Humber Refinery said:
“We are pleased to be a part of the announcement of shortlisted projects, and we look forward to receiving further clarity for future stages and selection. This announcement provides confidence that CCUS and Net Zero remains a government priority.
“Carbon capture and storage is vital in supporting the decarbonisation of the UK industry. Our carbon capture facility would be the first of its kind for a refinery. This has the potential to have a huge impact on reducing industry carbon emissions and support refineries across the globe to do the same through knowledge sharing.”
Congratulations to all projects selected and we look forward to further information from government about the ongoing deployment of CCUS needed to meet their target of 20-30 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030.
